**Feb 17th, 2021 - Clarification of Row 47(47, 49, 49, 51, 51) - Row 70(70, 78, 84, 86, 92).

So, recently I’ve been very bad. With so much time on my hands, I’ve been browsing the web so much more. Mostly on yarn website if I’m being completely honest. My yarn stash has grown exponentially, but I can’t even be mad about it. I’ve got a lot of new projects coming up because of this though!

Also, with Spring in the air, I’m reminded why Spring is not my favorite season! Allergies! NOOOOO! So, I’ve got to keep my mind super busy to try to distract myself from my misery! The pattern for this sweater is one of the ways I have managed to stay distracted!

ABOUT THIS Sweater:

This is the Ocean Meets Sky Sweater! I got the name from how this lovely colorway from Lion Brand Shawl in a Ball yarn gradates in waves from a dark oceany color, up into a great sky blue! This colorway is called Healing Teal and just gives me all the watery/oceany vibes.

This sweater is a 3/4 sleeve shirt that has a wonderful drape and slightly oversized fit. It is a great piece for transitioning from spring into summer because it is made with a light-weight yarn that breathes very easily.

Also, this pattern uses Lion Brand Shawl in a Ball, which is considered a medium weight 4 yarn by Lion Brand, BUT which I would classify as a weight 2.5 - weight 3 myself. However, when knit with the suggested needle size on the label (5mm), the gauge and fabric this yarn creates is closer to that of a weight 4, but has the most wonderful airy drape!

That means if you’re looking to substitute yarn for this pattern, you’ll want to look at some weight 2-3 yarns and check what your gauge might be. You might need to go up or down a needle size in order to get the correct gauge and drape with a different yarn. However, this sweater would be lovely in a traditional weight 4 yarn as well! It will simply be a little bit heavier with less airiness. So, play around with some weights and colors of yarns and see what you might like!

Seaming:

Pin front and back together at corners.
Using your preferred method, seam shoulders 7(8, 9, 10, 11, 12)” on both sides, neck opening should be approx 11” wide.
Then, seam the sides leaving a 6(6.5, 7, 7.5, 8, 8.5)” opening on both sides for sleeves. (if you need a larger sleeve opening, go up 1 size for the sleeve opening).

Sleeves:

Pick up and Knit:

Starting at bottom of sleeve opening, pick up and knit 56(60, 64, 68, 72, 76) st along opening. Place a sm.

Row 1 - Row 50: k all st
Row 51: p all st
Row 52: k all st

Row 53 - Row 56: rep Row 51 - Row 52
BO

This makes about an 8.25” long sleeve. If you want/need a longer sleeve, just continue knitting in stockinette for however many more rows you need, then do the garter border.

Knit Flat:

If you prefer not to pick up and knit the sleeves into the garment, you can also knit the sleeves flat, then seam them in. If you do this, make sure you add at least 1 selvage stitch to each side.

CO 58(62, 66, 70, 74, 78) st

Row 2 (WS): p all st
Row 3 - Row 50: rep Row 1 - Row 2

Seam sleeves to body.
